Sculpture by the Sea U.K./ Cerflun ar lan y Mor
Sculpture by the Sea U.K. / Ceflun ar lan y Mor is an environmental arts group based in Swansea, South Wales in the U.K. specialising in art workshops and festivals for school children and communities. Run by trained artists who have previously collaborated on large scale community and schools arts projects, such as the innovative Green Art project for Primaries at Bishopswood in 2000/01, the aim of the organisation is to provide educational and fun adventure art workshops that will inspire natural creativity and a sense of well being for participants. The workshops are run in different natural locations local to communities and schools and involve discovery, observation and interpretation of each place with artworks created from natural and recycled materials. The artists involved have been running beach based workshops in the Swansea area for many years but begun their first Sculpture by the Sea workshops at Blackpill in Spring 2003. The Sculpture by the Sea U.K. Festival / Cerflun ar lan y Mor Gwyl was a natural progression to enable the Community of Swansea to also benefit from these inspiring workshops. This was run during two weekends in July 2005 on Swansea Foreshore at Blackpill. Our Festival page features some of the temporary sculptures created at the event from natural and recycled materials. Through the Seasons School workshops are documented on our Schools page and the Gallery page contains details of the special site specific sculpture competition that involves three artists from Wales, Ireland and France to celebrate the twinning of Mumbles, Kinsale and Hennebont.
